The Minister of Finance, Mr. Javkhlan Bold, and the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Chang Won Sam signed the Record of Discussion for the "Project for the Advancement of Risk Management and Baggage Control of the Mongolian Customs General Administration," which will be implemented with a grant of USD 5.6 million from the Korean Government on August 25, 2025.
The project aims to support the modernization of customs operations by introducing a risk management and passenger baggage control system, providing customs clearance advisory services, and strengthening the capacity of customs officials.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister has highlighted that "Over the past 30 years of cooperation, KOICA has implemented 66 projects and 13 development consulting services in Mongolia with a total value of more than USD 330 million, provided training opportunities in the Republic of Korea for 3,192 civil servants, and dispatched 5,782 volunteers, making it one of Mongolia’s major development partners.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the 34th anniversary of cooperation with KOICA, and the 30th anniversary of the commencement of operations of the KOICA Representative Office in Mongolia, signifying the strengthening of our mutual relations and cooperation."
The signing ceremony was attended by the South Korean Ambassador to Mongolia, Mr. Choi Jin-won, KOICA President, Mr. Chang Won Sam, KOICA Country Director in Mongolia, Ms. Jo Haeng-Lan, the Head of the General Department of Customs, Mr. Otgonjargal, and other relevant officials.
